Beuter family hymn book, [ca. 185-?]

German manuscript lieder book, without music, from the mid-nineteenth century used in the Zoar Society of Separatists community in Ohio contains an index of the 23 hymns, located at the back of the book. Several names from the Beuter family are written on the first pages, including Bernhardt, David, and Benjamin Beuter. The front inside cover is dated 1859 and the page preceeding page number 1 is dated 1849. Most of the hymns suggest pietist origin and are not found in the hymnals of the Lutheran or Reformed churches. Many hymns found in this hymnal are also found in copies of Sammlung auserlesener geistlicher Lieder, printed in Zoar in 1855 and in 1967.
